NEW: TMZ-obtained dispatch audio reveals Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died by suicide following a mental health crisis.
Frisco Police discovered the 24-year-old with a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a portable toilet after a brief vehicle pursuit.
Kneeland’s girlfriend told authorities she received a distressing text from him stating he planned to “end it all.”
The Plano, TX native—who recorded a touchdown in Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals—allegedly fled troopers before crashing his vehicle on southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway.
“After losing sight of the car, troopers found it abandoned minutes later,” Frisco PD stated. “The driver, later identified as Marshawn Kneeland, had fled on foot.”
Officers set up a perimeter and deployed K-9 and drone units. Kneeland was found dead at 1:31 a.m.
